Communication

The International phone code of Austria is: +43. Telekom Austria is the main service provider of the country. There are plenty of public phones in the cities, phone card can be bought at every post office, or tobacconist's shops. Mobile phones can be used in Austria well, GSM networks are operating on 900/1800 Mhz range. You can use public telephones by Telekom Austria or mobile phone network, which works on GSM 1800.

Shopping:

Shops are usually opened on weekdays from 9a.m to 6p.m, on Saturdays from 9a.m to 12a.m (Grocery stores open at 8am), but there are some tourist areas, like railway stations, airports, etc, where shops usually are more longer opened, until 23pm.

Mariahilfer Strasse
This is one of most popular shopping streets in Vienna - if you don't find something on this street that does not exist: from groceries through furniture to clothes, everything can be bought.


Neubaugasse area
This is the home of the flagship stores of the G-Star and WESC brands, the PARK concept store, and many other hip outlets.

Das mbel - Das geschft shop
This a large furniture market, where you can find many pieces of furniture and other accessories from all over the world. It is located between the Naschmarkt and the Museumsquartier.


The Golden "U"
The shopping area from the imperial times - it is situated near to the Krtnerstrasse and Graben. Here you can find exclusive shops such as Tiffany's, Chanel or Gucci.
